Make sure to go across the Rialto Bridge, one of Venice’s oldest bridges, which connects the neighborhoods of San Polo and San Marco. Montecatini Terme is our Tuscany vacation base, and from here you can easily see the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Florence, home of the masterpieces of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, is best explored on foot. Explore Florence by climbing the 463 steps to the pinnacle of the famed Duomo (cathedral), exploring the medieval Piazza della Signoria, or visiting the iconic Ponte Vecchio (meaning “old bridge”). Florence, with its wonderful art and architecture, is just one of the highlights of a visit to Tuscany.
4. Rome
The Eternal City, Rome, is rich in historical and cultural landmarks. Rome, with its awe-inspiring Colosseum and majestic Vatican City, as well as the beautiful alleyways of Trastevere, provides a unique blend of ancient history and modern life. On our trip to Rome, we wandered through the Roman Forum, tossed a coin into the Trevi Fountain, and ate true Italian gelato while taking in the city’s lovely atmosphere.
5. Lake Garda
Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, offers a wide variety of activities and landscapes. Lake Garda is a visitor’s dream, from the vibrant town of Sirmione, which has thermal baths and old ruins, to the lovely towns of Riva del Garda and Limone. Explore the charming streets and taste the local wines and olive oil in this gorgeous region.
6. Milan
During our Lake Como vacation, we plan to visit Milan. Milan is known as the fashion center of the world, and it also has the world’s fourth largest cathedral, the Duomo di Milano. Visit Milan to see the world’s oldest shopping mall, Galleria Vittorio, as well as Leonardo Da Vinci’s famed artwork “The Last Supper.”
7. Pompeii
